Chris Meloni’s ‘Law & Order: Organized Crime’ to debut on NBC this fall

June 16 (UPI) — NBC said Tuesday its fall lineup will include the Law & Order: SVU spinoff, Law & Order: Organized Crime.

Christopher Meloni will reprise his SVU character, Elliot Stabler, “who returns to the NYPD to battle organized crime after a devastating personal loss,” a news release said.

“However, the city and police department have changed dramatically in the decade he’s been away, and he must adapt to a criminal justice system in the midst of its own moment of reckoning,” the synopsis said. “Throughout the series, we will follow Stabler’s journey to find absolution and rebuild his life, while leading a new elite task force that is taking apart the city’s most powerful criminal syndicates one by one.”

The show will air on Thursday nights at 10 p.m. after SVU, which stars Mariska Hargitay and is kicking off its 22nd season.

Also slated to return to the network this fall are New Amsterdam, Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, Chicago P.D., This Is Us, Manifest, Superstore, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Voice.

Peacock acquires Stephen King crime drama ‘Mr. Mercedes’

Sept. 21 (UPI) — NBCUniversal’s Peacock streaming service has acquired Stephen King crime drama series Mr. Mercedes.

The first two seasons of Mr. Mercedes will stream exclusively on Peacock starting on Oct. 15. The premiere of Season 3 will be announced at a later date.

Mr. Mercedes aired on AT&T’s Audience Network before the station ceased operations.

Mr. Mercedes, based on King’s bestselling Bill Hodges trilogy of novels, stars Brendan Gleeson as a retired detective who is tormented by a serial killer, portrayed by Harry Treadaway.

Kelly Lynch, Jharrel Jerome, Mary-Louise Parker, Holland Taylor, Justine Lupe, Breeda Wool, Scott Lawrence, Ann Cusack, Jack Huston, Tessa Ferrer, Maximiliano Hernandez and Nancy Travis also star.

King wrote the series, alongside David E. Kelley, who also serves as executive producer and Sophie Owens-Bender. Jack Bender serves as director.

Watch: The Boyz aim for the heart in ‘The Stealer’ video

Sept. 21 (UPI) — South Korean boy band The Boyz is back with new music.

The K-pop group released a new EP, Chase, and a music video for the title track, “The Stealer,” on Monday.

In “The Stealer” video, The Boyz aim for the heart as they sing about chasing the elusive object of their affection.

Chase also features the songs “Shine Shine,” “Insanity,” “Whiplash,” “Make or Break” and “Checkmate (Stage Ver.). The EP is The Boyz’ first music since the album Reveal, released in February.

“Please give this comeback lots of love!! #forTheB,” the group tweeted Monday.

The Boyz consists of Sangyeon, Jacob, Younghoon, Hyunjae, Juyeon, Kevin, New, Q, Ju Haknyeon, Sunwoo and Eric. The group made its debut in 2017.

The Boyz is known for the singles “Boy,” “Giddy up,” “No Air,” “Tattoo” and “Reveal.”
